Blue Barrel Surf School

Welcome to Blue Barrel Surf School. By booking a surf lesson or participating in any activities with us, you agree to abide by the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully.

1. Booking and Payment

1.1 All lessons must be booked in advance through our website.

1.2 Full payment is required to confirm your booking.

1.3 We only accept payments via credit or debit card.

2. Cancellation and Refund Policy

2.1 Cancellations made at least 48 hours before the scheduled lesson will receive a full refund.

2.2 Cancellations made within 48 hours of the lesson are not eligible for a refund, as this reflects the short notice and difficulty in re-filling spaces. At our discretion, we may offer a reschedule or credit note.

2.3 If Blue Barrel Surf School cancels a lesson due to adverse weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances, we will offer a full refund, reschedule, or a voucher.

3. Participant Requirements

3.1 Participants must be capable of swimming at least 25 metres unaided.

3.2 Any medical conditions, allergies, or physical limitations must be disclosed before participation at the booking stage.

3.3 Under-18 / Family Participation: Any participant under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who must remain present and in the water at all times during the session.

3.4 The parent or guardian retains primary responsibility for the minor’s safety and participation. Blue Barrel Surf School provides instruction and takes reasonable care but does not replace parental supervision.

3.5 Bookings for under-18 participants will only be accepted if the parent or guardian confirms they will remain present and responsible for the entire session.

4. Risk Acknowledgement and Liability

4.1 Surfing is an inherently risky activity conducted in a natural, open water environment. Risks include, but are not limited to, waves, currents, tides, collisions, and physical injury.

4.2 By participating, you acknowledge and accept these risks, including those that cannot be eliminated even with reasonable care and skill.

4.3 Blue Barrel Surf School will provide its services with reasonable care and skill at all times.

4.4 Blue Barrel Surf School holds appropriate and current public liability insurance. All instructors are suitably qualified and hold relevant, in-date surf coaching and lifesaving certifications.

4.5 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

4.6 To the extent permitted by law, Blue Barrel Surf School shall not be liable for any loss or injury to the extent that it results from:
(a) failure to follow safety instructions;
(b) inaccurate or incomplete information provided by you;
(c) reckless or unsafe behaviour.

4.7 Where both Blue Barrel Surf School and the participant contribute to any loss or injury, liability shall be apportioned accordingly.

4.8 Blue Barrel Surf School is not responsible for loss or damage to personal belongings, except where caused by our negligence.

5. Safety and Conduct

5.1 All participants must follow the instructor’s guidance and adhere to safety instructions at all times.

5.2 Failure to comply with safety protocols or engaging in reckless behaviour may result in immediate termination of the lesson without a refund.

6. Equipment

6.1 Surfboards, wetsuits, and other necessary equipment are provided for lessons.

6.2 Participants are responsible for returning equipment in reasonable condition. Any damage caused by negligence or misuse may result in a charge for repair or replacement.

7. Media

7.1 Blue Barrel Surf School may take photographs or videos during lessons for promotional purposes.

7.2 We will seek your consent before using any images for marketing. If you do not wish to be photographed, please inform us in advance.

By booking and participating in a lesson, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
